Hazard Reporting


All building faults-plumbing, structural, electrical wiring and gas leaks etc should be reported to Mr Brett Lord the Building Supervisor Rm 188 (adjacent to the Cumming Theatre) Ph: 48944 (8310 5506) between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. He will then contact the University maintenance section and report the problem.


Non urgent faults after hours or at weekends should be reported on the next working day.
Urgent faults after hours or at weekends can be reported directly to the Maintenance section on 46000.


Chemical spills, fumes or smells within the Schools buildings should be reported to the Safety Officer Ms Esther Mcconnell on Ph 44027 Rm 101 or Ms Jenny Scott Rm 289 or Ph 47323.


Attached to or near all First Aid cabinets are “Danger tags” with instructions on how to use them to withdraw damaged or faulty instruments, equipment, apparatus, services etc from use. These tags are to stop any person from using potentially dangerous equipment and injuring themselves or other people. Tags also available from the Safety Officer or the Amenities Room.


The black and yellow “Caution Do Not Use” tags are to be used when mechanical equipment, tools or furniture, are to be repaired or disposed of via the university hard rubbish collection. If faulty equipment is sent to the workshops for repair, it should have either a “Danger tag” or “Caution” tag attached to it.
